Flaxton Gardens Wedding
From a Valentine’s Day Match to Forever
Chelsea & Harry
Their Love Story
Some love stories begin with a grand romantic gesture.
Chelsea and Harry’s started with a dating app match just days before Valentine’s Day, a global pandemic, several months of long distance and, eventually, a helicopter ride to the top of a snowy mountain.
So, basically, they skipped the boring bits.
Their wedding at Flaxton Gardens on the Sunshine Coast was the perfect reflection of everything that makes their relationship so good: genuine, fun, adventurous and completely centred around each other.
Back in 2020, Chelsea was just moments away from deleting her dating app when she noticed a match she hadn't replied to yet.
Harry.
A few days of chatting turned into plans for a Friday night drink. Harry picked Chelsea up and, as soon as he saw her, he knew there was something different about this one.
Their first date happened to fall on Valentine's Day at Moxie's rooftop bar. Conveniently, the venue was hosting a Valentine's party where guests had to choose a wristband.
Red for taken.
Green for single.
Orange for complicated.
Harry went first and confidently chose red.
A pretty solid bit of foreshadowing.
The two hit it off immediately. Harry remembers thinking Chelsea was beautiful and that he was going to have to do whatever it took to make her his future wife.
Then, four dates in, COVID arrived and decided to make things considerably more difficult.
Harry found himself stuck in New Zealand for three months, and later another six months. But if there was ever a test of whether these two were serious about each other, this was it.
Distance didn't change anything.
They kept choosing each other.
Eventually, they were able to live together, before Harry accepted an incredible career opportunity with Air Services that meant another year of training in Melbourne.
More distance.
More waiting.
More choosing each other.
And then finally, they had the life they'd been waiting for.
No more long distance. Just Chelsea, Harry and the future they'd been building towards.
They've filled that life with adventures, road trips, plenty of laughter and all the little everyday moments that make a relationship feel like home.
And then came the proposal.
While celebrating their four-year anniversary in Queenstown, Harry secretly organised a helicopter flight to a snowy mountain. He was so nervous that when the moment came, he temporarily lost the ability to form sentences.
He managed to say, “I love you” twice before getting down on one knee.
Chelsea said yes.
And now, after everything they've been through together, they stood at Flaxton Gardens surrounded by the people they love, ready to officially become husband and wife.

A Quote from the Vows
"You are my favourite place to be. I choose you today and every day and promise to always be your partner in our journey of life as we create everlasting memories and special moments." ~ Chelsea
"With you, everything just feels lighter and easier, like the world's a bit brighter because you're around. Your smile can turn around any day, and being with you, it's its own kind of comfort." ~ Harry
There was love, there was laughter and there were enough IKEA references to make it very clear that marriage is apparently just another long-term home renovation project.

A little about the celebration
Chelsea and Harry's wedding day at Flaxton Gardens was everything you'd hope for from a Sunshine Coast Hinterland wedding.
There was plenty of emotion, plenty of laughter and a whole lot of genuine happiness.
But what stood out most wasn't just how beautiful the day looked.
It was how comfortable Chelsea and Harry were together.
From the moment they stood at the ceremony, you could see how much they genuinely enjoy being around each other. They weren't just celebrating becoming husband and wife. They were celebrating the life they'd already built together and everything still waiting for them.
Their ceremony was packed with personal stories, including the infamous Valentine's Day wristband, the mini golf date Chelsea somehow won for the first and last time, and Harry's realisation that he was going to marry her after she randomly quacked at a duck while ordering Chinese food.
Yep.
That's the one.
Their personal vows brought the emotion, but they still managed to keep the humour that makes their relationship feel so natural.
Chelsea even promised to always make Harry a margarita stronger than the collective and admitted she would probably still quack at the duck.
After the rings were exchanged and the official “I do's” were done, the newlyweds were sent back down the aisle to a sea of rose petals and confetti before heading into the celebrations with their favourite people.
It was fun, emotional and completely them.
why I love this wedding venue for weddings
If you're searching for a Sunshine Coast wedding venue, Flaxton Gardens is pretty hard to overlook.
Perched in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Flaxton Gardens combines beautifully manicured gardens with sweeping coastal and valley views stretching across the coastline towards Moreton Island and Noosa.
And that's a pretty good backdrop for a wedding film.
One of the biggest advantages of getting married at Flaxton Gardens is the variety of spaces available. Couples can choose from different ceremony locations, including the escarpment view, the arbour overlooking the vineyard and windmill, or the Barrel Room as a wet weather option.
For receptions, the venue offers a range of options including winery weddings, marquee celebrations and more intimate wedding experiences. The venue also offers onsite accommodation, meaning you can keep a lot of the wedding day experience in one beautiful location rather than spending half your day travelling between venues.
And visually, it's a dream for wedding photography and videography.
You've got gardens, vineyard views, the hinterland landscape, sweeping coastal scenery and plenty of different environments to work with throughout the day.
For a wedding filmmaker, that variety means your wedding film doesn't have to look like one location from start to finish. You can capture the quiet moments, the big emotional moments and everything in between.
Flaxton Gardens also describes its wedding style as “tranquil elegance”, which makes it a great fit for couples wanting something that feels elegant without losing that relaxed Sunshine Coast Hinterland atmosphere.
And let's be honest, having a beautiful venue is one thing.
Having a beautiful venue where you don't have to drag everyone across the Sunshine Coast between the ceremony and reception?
That's another win.
a thank you message
Chelsea and Harry, thank you.
Thank you for trusting us to capture such an important part of your story and for allowing us into a day that was so clearly filled with people who love you both.
Your relationship is one of those that just makes sense when you're around you.
There's so much fun, so much friendship and so much genuine care between you. After everything you've already navigated together, from dating during a global pandemic to years of long distance, career changes and eventually building the life you've always wanted, it was pretty bloody special to watch you finally make it official.
We hope your wedding film brings all of those feelings rushing back every time you watch it.
The laughs.
The nerves.
The vows.
The duck impression.
The confetti.
And that moment when you finally got to walk back down the aisle as husband and wife.
We couldn't be happier for you both.
Here's to a lifetime of road trips, adventures, margaritas, questionable party shirts and coming home to your favourite person.
