Stephanie & Nick Horseshoe Hill Wedding
A Love Story That Was Hiding in Plain Sight
Stephanie & Nick
Their Love Story
Steph and Nick’s story actually started long before they realised it. They grew up around the same circles, went to neighbouring primary schools, lived just streets apart during their university days in Paddington and shared plenty of mutual friends.
Nick was even the big brother of one of Steph’s closest friends, Lani. Somehow, after all those years of crossing paths, they never properly connected. It took until September 2023 for the universe to finally get involved.
Steph was in Melbourne for work and staying with Lani and Michael when Nick joined them for dinner. Steph remembers Nick greeting Lani with a huge hug, finding her a chair and generally being the kind of person who made everyone feel looked after. Nick, meanwhile, remembers Steph turning up in a white fluffy jumper, pink tutu and dragging a massive suitcase, looking a bit like a sheep but also being beautiful, funny and incredibly easy to get along with. After a few woo-woos and a long lunch the next day, Steph realised she had forgotten to pay for dinner. Michael told her Nick had covered it, so she sent him a quick thank you message. That tiny message was the start of everything.
From there, things moved very quickly. Despite living in different states and already having six children between them, they fell in love fast and deeply. Steph says Nick pulled her out of one of the darkest points in her life and that the sun has been shining out of him ever since.
Nick proposed at home on a quiet Sunday afternoon after first asking Steph’s parents for permission, presenting her with a beautifully designed pink ring. Then came their greatest adventure yet, baby Dolly, the little one they apparently “didn't need but wholeheartedly wanted”, bringing their family to seven children.
Today, Steph and Nick aren't just celebrating becoming husband and wife. They're celebrating the family, friendship, chaos and everyday life they've chosen together.

A Quote from the Vows
"Frankie and Roy, thank you for sharing your beautiful daddy with me. I love you very much. I was not there when you took your first steps, but I promise that I will be there to support you in every step that you take in your life. I promise to be fair and honest and to love you as my own." ~ Steph
"Rocky. Birdie. Willoughby and Reggie, thank you for sharing your mom with me. I am devoted to making your life full of happiness and accomplishments, ensuring that you thrive to the fullest potential, and that while you reach for the sky, you remain grounded by the love of our family. " ~ Nick
Two pretty perfect promises for a couple whose relationship is built on friendship, laughter, family and choosing each other through all of life's seasons.

A little about the celebration
The ceremony at Horseshoe Hill was never going to be a quiet affair, and honestly, it wouldn't have suited Steph and Nick if it was.
Their children were at the heart of the day, with Steph making beautiful promises to Frank and Roy, and Nick promising Rocky, Birdie, Willoughby and Reggie that he would help them thrive while always keeping them grounded in the love of their family.
Then there was Dolly, the newest little member of the family and, according to the ceremony, the one who “closed the circle”. From emotional speeches to ring bearers, dancing, inside jokes and plenty of laughs, the day felt less like the beginning of a family and more like a celebration of everything this family already is.
And naturally, there were plenty of references to their shared love of long lunches, Nick’s obsession with cars and backpacks, Steph’s habit of leaving cupboard doors open and her ability to yell at other drivers as though they're personally plotting against her.
Basically, very normal marriage stuff.
why I love this wedding venue for weddings
Horseshoe Hill provided the backdrop for a wedding that was all about connection. Rather than the day feeling solely focused on Steph and Nick, their children, family and closest friends were woven into every part of the celebration.
That made the setting feel perfectly suited to the occasion. This wasn't simply two people getting married. It was a family coming together, celebrating everything they've built and making a pretty important promise to keep choosing one another.
a thank you message
Steph and Nick, what a story.
From spending decades unknowingly orbiting each other's lives, to one dinner in Melbourne, a woo-woo or two, a forgotten dinner payment and one very important thank you message, somehow you ended up here.
And we think that's pretty bloody great.
Your wedding was a celebration of the life you've built together, the seven kids who make your world what it is and the people who have supported you along the way.
Here's to the long lunches, the school runs, the chaos, the inside jokes, the made-up songs, the car monologues and all the ordinary moments that make up a life together.
Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Dempsey. We hope the next chapter is every bit as fun as the one that got you here.
